Job Description
The lVN position performs clerical and telephone duties; enters physician orders and patient charges into the computer; coordinates the services and supplies from other departments; and assists the primary nurse in the delivery of safe patient/family centered care. This position also requires recognition and interpretation of alarm on the EKG monitoring system; handles potentially stressful situations and multiple tasks simultaneously; and receives, understands and reports the results of medical tests and treatments to the primary nurse.
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Required Technical Skills:
Computer entry, fax, telephone etiquette, customer service, recognition of dysrhythmias, ability to multitask
Required Licensure/Certification
Current Texas Licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
Preferred Technical Skills:
Knowledge and ability to perform the skills necessary for the unit specific competencies.
Required Experience:
One year nursing experience in a hospital setting. Basic EKG course within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Experience:
One year ICU experience. 12 lead EKG course.
