We are looking for reliable nurses to care for residents in a professional and considerate manner. Work under the supervision of a Director of Nursing (RN). Our nurses must be first and foremost qualified clinically and compassionate. The ideal candidate will be experienced in providing diverse basic nursing care to those who need it while remaining patient and calm. It is a very rewarding job with relationships built with residents and their families.
Responsibilities
- Record a patient’s medical history accurately
- Take and record measurements of blood pressure, temperature, heart rate etc.
- Observe patients under treatment to identify progress, side-effects of medications etc.
- Monitor patients’ condition including fluid intake and output and document patient charts
- Assist residents in daily necessary activities such as eating, bathing etc.
- Administer injections, prescribed medications, clean and dress wounds and assist with other basic medical care tasks
- Collect samples for lab testing as assigned
- Provide emotional and psychological support when needed
- Communicate with patients’ family or friends to provide information, advice and comfort,
Skills
- Proven experience as LPN or RN
- Ability to undertake a variety of diverse care tasks and work in a multidisciplinary team
- Familiarity with long term care regulations and procedures
- Understanding of confidentiality obligations and nursing best practices
- Excellent knowledge of medical terminology
- Perfect physical condition and stamina
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and able to handle stress
This is a position in a non-profit small facility with 45 residents in intermediate care, personal care and independent living. Located in the beautiful Highlands neighborhood since 1906.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, PRN
Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 8 – 40 per week
