Job Overview:
The primary functions of a Heavy Haul Driver are to drive a flat bed, heavy duty flat bed, tractor with Landoll trailer, tractor with flat deck or drop deck trailer, and a tractor with a Lowboy trailer. Driver will use this equipment to move objects or heavy equipment for customers. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ability to drive all vehicles assigned to them
- Maneuver trucks into loading and unloading positions, checking that vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned
- Load cargo in a safe manner as trained
- Responsible for general maintenance of truck, including but not limited to: checking oil and fuel levels
- Complete all “pre-trip” requirements before each truck run and “post-trip” requirement at the end of each shift
- Ability to read and navigate road maps and GPS systems
- Confirm that all necessary permits are obtained before delivering load
- May drive in hazardous conditions, including inclement weather, tight quarters, and inner-city locations
- Handle exposure to heavy traffic, dust, fumes, high and low temperatures, slippery surfaces, low-lighted work areas and high noise levels
- Ability to communicate via written orders and instructions.
- Demonstrate professionalism; be courteous and friendly to customers and co-workers at all times
- Follows company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies
- Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress
- Operate in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
- Other duties as assigned by management
