Job Description
As a Low Voltage Installation Technician, your primary responsibility is to install and maintain Low Voltage systems and equipment, ensuring their proper functionality and compliance with relevant codes and standards. Low voltage systems typically include but are not limited to security systems, fire alarms, audiovisual systems, data networks, and telecommunications infrastructure. You will work collaboratively with a team of technicians to deliver high-quality installations, troubleshoot issues, and provide excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Configuration:
- Install, terminate, and test Low Voltage wiring for various systems, such as security, fire alarms, CCTV, audiovisual, data, and telecommunications.
- Configure and program Low Voltage devices and components, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
System Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Conduct thorough testing of installed systems to verify proper operation and compliance with specifications.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with Low Voltage systems, identifying and resolving problems in a timely and efficient manner.
Code Compliance:
- Ensure that all installations adhere to relevant local, state, and national electrical codes, as well as industry standards.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and standards affecting Low Voltage systems.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all installations, configurations, and service activities.
- Provide documentation to clients and internal teams, outlining the work performed and any recommendations for improvements.
Customer Service:
- Interact professionally with clients, addressing their concerns, explaining system functionalities, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Provide training to end-users on the proper use of Low Voltage systems when necessary.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with other technicians, project managers, and stakeholders to coordinate and execute installations.
- Communicate effectively within the team and with clients to ensure smooth project delivery.
Safety:
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Identify potential safety hazards and take corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or coursework in Low Voltage systems is a plus.
- Proven experience in Low Voltage system installations and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
- Proficiency in using testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift and carry equipment, climb ladders, and work in various environments.
