Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Low Voltage Technician to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a variety of low-voltage electrical systems, including: security alarms, fire alarms, data cabling, network systems, and audio/visual equipment. You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure the efficient and reliable operation of these systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
Responsibilities:
- Installation:
- Install low-voltage wiring and cabling for various systems, following blueprints and safety protocols.
- Mount cameras, sensors, and other equipment according to specifications.
- Configure and program system components for optimal performance.
- Test and certify system functionality to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Maintenance:
- Perform regular preventative maintenance on low-voltage systems to identify and address potential issues.
- Inspect and test for proper operation of components and connections.
- Replace faulty equipment and troubleshoot system malfunctions.
- Update system software and firmware as needed.
- Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems with low-voltage systems using appropriate tools and methods.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand and address their concerns.
- Document troubleshooting steps and solutions for future reference.
- Other Duties:
- Provide clear and concise instructions to clients on system operation and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records and paperwork for installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working with low-voltage electrical systems, such as security alarms, fire alarms, data cabling, or network systems.
- Strong understanding of basic electrical principles and safety procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Proficiency in using low-voltage tools and test equipment.
- Strong understanding of computer networking.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license.
