- Guards, patrols, and monitors City facilities to prevent theft, violence, infractions of rules, and other forms of loss, Makes short term decisions on actions needed during emergency situations. Grants or denies access to restricted areas of facilities.
- Provides accurate and timely responses to telephone inquires from the general public and gathers and provides information to personnel as applicable.
- Performs and documents inspections of life safety and other essential equipment and City facilities. Enters work orders as needed and follow up to ensure discrepancies are resolved.
- Answers alarms and investigates disturbances. Notifies public safety personnel in the event of an emergency. Analyzes information to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Enters, transcribes, records, stores, and maintains information in written and/or electronic form.
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License
Knowledge of:
- Public safety, security, and Loss Prevention;
- Tools and equipment used in security and Loss Prevention including but not limited to alarm systems, video monitoring, handguns, night sticks, first aid kits, fire extinguishers, and two-way radios;
- Customer service principles;
- Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, and regulations;
- Recordkeeping principles;
- CPR/First Aid;
- Computers and related software applications.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, oils, bodily fluids, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, and intense noises.
