Description
The Catering Sales Coordinator will have a strong catering background, experience with upscale events and the ability to execute multiple catering functions simultaneously. The job involves attending industry and networking events. Once the Catering Sales Coordinator has prospective clients, they are responsible for conducting tours of the restaurant, menu tastings, and all meetings with the client as well as all details of the event. This position will interact with the Sales and Special Events Sr. Manager, Longleaf General Manager, Events Operations Team and Culinary Team to create flawless events.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Obtain new clients for functions within the restaurant
- Create, build and maintain client relationships through solicitation, follow up calls, emails, notes, sales calls and other avenues
- Create personalized proposals/sample menus based on clients' needs; create proposals, contracts, banquet event orders and invoices in a timely fashion; create & distribute floor plans to Restaurant and Operations Teams to review during weekly in person scheduled meetings. Create and print menu cards and food labels as needed.
- Over communicate to the Event Ops, & Culinary Teams for specific events through a detailed Banquet Event Order and kitchen sheet; must communicate effectively on any pop-ups and last-minute event updates
- Attend all booked events to greet the client and ensure the event details are executed accordingly until the food is presented; introduction made to the Event Captain to meet the client to run the event until close
- Ensure the billing procedures are followed and the event is closed out properly in Delphi
- Attend networking events; HSMAI, GAMPI, ACVB, ISES, SHRM, GSAE, NACE
- Visit the surrounding community to market Longleaf as a venue.
Requirements
- Certification or degree in Hospitality, Marketing or related field is required
- Experience with prospecting, selling, and negotiating skills
- Excellent client and customer service skills, able to multitask, lead by example, and direct employees in fast-paced environment
- Extensive knowledge of catering and catering logistic, casual and fine dining, and banquet management.
- Creative vision in regards to high end event design and excellent execution/planning skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and excels in client, guest and employee relations and retention
- Candidates should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and an exemplary time manager, adaptable to change in a fast-paced environment and must possess excellent written and verbal communication.
- Experience in high volume catering, employee/staff training, labor management and control systems
- Works well independently and must be a team player,
- Organized, problem solving, attention to detail, with strong computer skills
- Must have a strong food and beverage background w/ability to work closely with chef to create custom menus
- Excellent listening skills, creative with menu development, excellent customer service to go above and beyond client's needs
- Consistent follow-up with clients to increase closing percent
- Will be required to work holidays, nights and weekends
- Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Delphi are a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Standing and walking 90% of the time. Position routinely requires the ability to lift up to 40+ pounds.
