Reports to: Math Department Chair
Job Summary: To help each student develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each student to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; and to encourage students to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics
Performance Responsibilities:
- Teach courses in mathematics to secondary students following the course of study adopted by the Board of Education.
- Create lesson plans and implement instructional practices that reflect accurate understanding of prerequisite relationships among topics and concepts and reflect familiarity with a wide range of effective pedagogical approaches related to the discipline.
- Attain information about levels of development for groups of students and differentiate the lesson to meet their needs.
- Participate in school events, open house, parent teacher conferences and other required school activities.
- Seek and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skills.
- Display high standard of honesty, integrity and confidentiality in interaction with colleagues, students and the public.
- Demonstrate dependable attendance, punctuality and work ethic.
