JOB TITLE: Long-Term Elementary Music Substitute Teacher

REPORTS TO: Principals and Special Services Director based upon assignment

Time Frame: Approximately March 11, 2024 through May 17, 2024 (last day of school year).

REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred).

Experience Desired: Experience working with children.

Physical: Constant hand-eye and mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking, keyboarding, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, reaching, stooping, and turning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:

1. Responsible for the daily management and operations of assigned classrooms at the times designated.

2. Uses multiple evaluations and assessments to evaluate student mastery of content and to inform instruction for the class, as individuals, and within diverse groups.

3. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior conducive to a good learning environment.

4. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects and communicates these objectives to students.

5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and technology appropriate to the physical limitations of the facilities and the needs and capabilities of the students.

6. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.

7. Diagnoses the learning abilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.

8. Takes necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.

9. Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.

10. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom in a fair and just manner.

11. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.

12. Maintains professional relationships with fellow teachers, administration, parents, and students.

13. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.

14. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.

15. Monitors students during recess, lunchroom, study halls, and in hallways.

16. Strives to help promote safety, health, and comfort of all students within the school district.

17. Promotes a positive image of the West Central School District. 18. Other duties as required by the school board, administration or state law.
