WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM TO 5:00 PM

This position provides logistical support for all departmental personnel, this includes distribution of fire and EMS equipment, uniforms and various supplies. This position requires basic entry level knowledge and experience in inventory management, asset allocation and management, fleet operations, materials handling, project assignments and other administrative duties. This position requires considerable independent judgment, leadership and self-initiative. This position reports to the Logistics Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions and/or functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

Delivers supplies and equipment to fire stations or facilities as assigned.

Ensures inventory of supplies is sufficient. Maintains materials, equipment, parts and other supplies in departmental supply room or assigned areas. Keeps storage areas organized and clean.

Utilizes hand trucks and/or carts in the storage and delivery of equipment, supplies and materials to designated locations.

Inspects items received or supplies against delivery tickets; checks that purchase orders are in conformance with request. Investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.

Enters data in the computer-based inventory management system.

Work with vendors to fulfill department needs.

Stays abreast of laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position including pertinent National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and OSHA standards. Has thorough knowledge of NFPA 1851 Standard on Selection, Care, and Maintenance of Protective Ensembles for Structural Firefighting and other NFPA Standards pertaining to PPE including NFPA 1951, 1971, 1977, and 1999.Operates Fire Rescue Department emergency vehicles for logistical needs as required.

In addition to regularly scheduled hours, this position may be offered unscheduled overtime.

This position is subject to mandatory overtime, call back, and recall due to emergency incidents or times of emergency.

Performs any and all other duties as assigned or directed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or completion of the GED. Associate degree in Logistical Support, Fire Science, Emergency Medical Services and/or other related field coursework preferred.

One to two (1-2) years of experience in the Fire Service as a paid professional, inventory, business, warehousing and/or procurement or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Possess and maintain a current/valid State of Florida Driver License which meets requirements outlined in the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations Manual as well as any requirements by the City's insurance carrier (at no additional cost, or risk), and determined by the City to be an acceptable driving record history.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Mathematics:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
