GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Logistics Manager supervises and directs the individual day-to-day work activities of Logistics department personnel under the direction of the VP Technical Services. They oversee all aspects of inventory management, including receiving, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control, reverse logistics, and safety. This role is also responsible for comprehensive management of the company’s fleet of vehicles including, planning, coordinating, evaluating, and administering all servicing, inventory management, equipment specification and procurement. This role is challenged to develop new tools and resources that increase efficiency, productivity and support the growth of our business. This position will develop and maintain extensive knowledge of logistics best practices and operating protocols while creating and implementing process improvements that increase efficiencies and customer satisfaction.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
In order of importance – Include frequency (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.)
- Leading and directing the work activities of Logistics team personnel on a daily basis to ensure all relevant processes and procedures are followed and provides coaching and corrective action as needed.
- Maintaining DBE’s equipment and service parts inventory with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and organization while meeting the needs of our customers on a daily basis.
- Ensuring adequate staffing to meet business needs through proper scheduling and planning at all times.
- Evaluating, planning, allocating, and maintaining appropriate inventory levels in company warehouses, field stocking locations, and technician car stock inventories while ensuring cost efficiency and maintaining financial objectives.
- Managing the fleet of company vehicles, including vehicle procurement, maintenance, reporting, and lifecycle management.
- Planning, coordinating, and monitoring inbound and outbound shipments.
- Developing robust long-term relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Leading projects that improve inventory optimization and create capacity expansion.
- Monitoring inventory and determining obsolescence for item disposition on a quarterly basis.
- Performing root-cause analysis of Logistics process failures and taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
- Selecting carriers and negotiating contracts and rates to improve service delivery and manage logistics costs in consultation with VP Technical Services and SVP of Service as needed.
- Under the direction of VP Technical Services, complete all additional special tasks and other projects as assigned.

EDUCATION & TRAINING
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and relevant experience
- High school education required.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- 7+ years’ experience in order management, production planning, scheduling, inventory control, manufacturing, or distribution operations in a multi-facility environment. APICS Certification preferred
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) a plus
- Thorough knowledge of processes and equipment.
- Excellent problem identification & follow through to issue resolution
- Demonstrates the ability to work well with a variety of individuals
- Demonstrates an understanding of automated distribution

- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to see the “big picture” and identify/forecast developing issues
