Job description

OVERVIEW

The Logistics Manager is an active member of the plant leadership team and helps set the direction for the entire site of 380 employees. This position reports to the Plant Manager and has a dotted line into the North American logistics function. In addition to directly leading the logistics team, the Logistics Manager will also interact with corporate Logistics Operations and business teams. The Logistics manager has 4 direct reports and leads the entire logistics team of 58.

ABOUT THE PLANT:

The Albuquerque site is a high-performing plant with 380 employees that serves both the Cereal and Snack businesses. We have two bar processing systems and three cereal processing systems, each connected to multiple packaging lines. Our logistics/material handling department supports all incoming materials (truck & bulk rail) and outgoing finished products for the site. Our 4-crew structure enables our technician team members to autonomously operate, maintain, and clean their systems. The Albuquerque plant is an important part of the NAR network because of the products we produce. We are a sole supplier or majority supplier of Reese’s Puffs, Golden Grahams, Monsters cereals, Treats bars and other Chewy bar SKUs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Champion safety improvements in the Logistics organization and throughout the plant
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture that improves plant operating results while maximizing customer service
  • Exemplify Servant and Engaging Leadership and establish and maintain a positive employee relations environment in the Logistics organization and throughout the plant
  • Support the plant’s mission to eliminate losses and drive process standardization for the Logistics organization
  • Play to win as an active member of the Plant Leadership Team and provide counsel and support on key Logistics tactical and strategic initiatives
  • Direct and lead plant staff in the development, prioritization, and implementation of key initiatives in support of the plant Master Plan and key Logistics priorities
  • Act as a liaison between the plant and Operating Unit/Segment and support growth plans by ensuring the optimal flow and costs associated with new product introductions, reformulations, and line extensions
  • Develop and own the Logistics budget.
  • Develop and implement a pipeline of productivity/cost savings ideas that support the plant, Operating Unit, and Supply Chain needs
  • Develop and communicate plans that ensure Logistics programs continue to meet changing customer service requirements
  • Lead, mentor and develop Logistics team members
  • Participate in Logistics specific project teams to drive network-wide process improvements and standardization

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of logistics, warehousing, or supply planning experience
  • Strong understanding of overall plant operations
  • Demonstrated understanding of the impact of logistics on the greater Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of logistics procedures and information systems (e.g. BlueYonder, SAP, scheduling, planning)
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to drive change
  • Strong conceptual, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and listening skills to foster a culture of inclusion and belonging
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and develop others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous plant or warehouse management experience
  • Previous experience leading a team or managing a team
  • Demonstrated capabilities at managing and developing people
  • Experience driving significant change within their team/function

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.
  • General Mills will be unable to provide sponsorship for this role now or in the future

Pay: $105,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
