- Directs logistics operations in efforts to reduce costs, improve delivery times, and support the movement of supplies, blood, and blood components.
- Plans, schedules, coordinates, and monitors the movement of supplies, materials, blood, and blood components through the use of technology
- Reacts to unanticipated needs of internal and external customers by modifying plans, and by working to improve efficiency, order lead time, and customer service through the optimization of courier routes, dissemination of information, and knowledge of customer order patterns
- Evaluates and contrasts costs associated with courier routes and reacts to dynamically changing information by adjusting plans and redirecting resources
- Develops contingency processes to improve responses to dynamically changing circumstances
- Actively manages, directs, and dispatches courier personnel
- Works with information technology to enhance the visibility of efficiency metrics, reports, and dashboards
- Tracks, measures, monitors, and reports metrics such as order lead time, fill rate, and courier cost per mile
- Other duties as assigned or required
- Four-year degree in Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, or Supply Chain
- One to two years of experience in Logistics Management
- Must be a self-starter, able to function independently, be motivated to remain abreast of current technology and methods, and be a team player
- Ability to lead and coach subordinates into good work performance
- Ability to learn and use multiple computer systems for monitoring and tracking movements
- Ability to analyze data in Excel
- Ability to use route optimization software
- Ability to generate computerized reports for analysis
- Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully, and courteously to patrons, donors, sponsors, and co-workers
- Ability to work with all levels and in a diverse work environment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, management, and peers
