Logistics Coordinator

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Logistics Coordinator will coordinate, review, and monitor the shipment deliveries to ensure they reach the customer destinations as expected, on time and safely. The Logistics Coordinator helps promote a healthy and efficient supply chain.

Must be a dependable, highly motivated, organized individual who enjoys a fast-paced work environment. The Logistics Coordinator will be detail-oriented and have a high level of accuracy.

Effective communication, including writing, speaking and interpersonal communication will help build relationships with carriers, teams, and customers.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

• Work closely with Supply Chain Managers and distribution centers to coordinate logistical activities for North American destinations
• Collect, organize, and analyze shipping requests to optimize shipping plans
• Input shipping requests into ERP system to manage pick requests
• Manage shipping plans to ensure that all lead time and pricing expectations are accurately reflected in ERP system
• Request freight quotes from forwarders and review with Supply Chain Managers for approval
• Coordinate transportation providers to ensure proper movement of shipments
• Accurately prepare and process shipping documents such as BOLs, Commercial Invoices, etc.
• Promptly distribute shipping documents to distribution centers, carriers, forwarders, customers, and agents in a timely manner
• Monitor carrier performance to ensure quality and delivery requirements are met.
• Track small to large volumes of shipments concurrently across multiple projects and multiple carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and third party carriers
• Monitor shipment progress and trouble shoot shipping errors
• Prepare customer-facing tracking reports for Supply Chain Managers and Customers

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience - 2+ years' experience in domestic logistics with some international experience.
• Transportation - Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air and truck.
• Logistics - Competence with shipping procedures and documentation requirements.
• Deductive Reasoning - The ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
• Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
• Ability to be resourceful and independently motivated.
• Quick critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent customer service and client relations skills.
• Ability to use computers, Excel, software and other technology for inventory and communication purposes.
• General understanding of the supply chain, including common obstacles and effective solutions.
• Problem Sensitivity -- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem alone but recognizing when to escalate to Supply Chain Managers.
• Collaboration and communication, teamwork.
• Time management and ability to be independently motivated and resourceful.
