While working in a chemical warehousing environment, the Logistics Coordinator’s job function is to route the movement of the incoming and outgoing freight shipments. The Logistics Coordinator is especially responsible for monitoring all deliveries, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining accurate logs of all transportation and goods. This position is responsible for preparing and arranging shipping and receiving documents. The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers is essential.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Safety
- Appropriate use of PPE and other safety equipment at all times as mandated by listed safety guidelines.
- Safe and careful operation of forklift upon certification
- Initial and annual completion of all safety training as required for the position.
- Proactive completion of all safety observations including reporting of near-miss incidents, safety hazards, and recommendations for improvement.
- Reporting of all safety incidents on shift
Work Processes
- Manage the maintenance, preparation, and the routing of all inbound and outbound deliveries.
- Effectively communicate critical information internally and externally
- Prepare accurate bills-of-lading and deliveries.
- Satisfy all bills-of-lading and deliveries in a timely manner.
- Coordinate and communicate all shipping & receiving needs with all carriers.
- Expertly negotiate transportation and freight costs with carriers.
- Proactively participate in the product selection and pricing process to improve pricing and transportation routes.
- Routinely track and analyze incorrect or missed shipments to prevent recurrence therefore reducing overall costs and increasing internal and external customer satisfaction levels.
- Provide prompt follow-up to all inquiries from internal colleagues and external customers to ensure prompt resolution and proper routing/escalation procedures.
- Proactively participate in the six sigma and lean process and identify areas of opportunity for improvement making recommendations to management and proactively making changes as needed to keep up with business needs
- Track delivery progress when requested.
- Display characteristics of a team-player by participating in training, onboarding, and other company-related activities when needed.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 4 years’ experience working in a cross-functional role in a shipping/receiving or logistics position.
- Previous experience in chemical manufacturing including knowledge of the coatings and adhesives industry is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of data, records, with strong attention to detail.
- Minimum five years’ Microsoft Office experience including but not limited to Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Minimum two years’ SAP experience
- Proven ability to perform simple math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Forklift Experienced; Must be able to pass a forklift driving test within 1 week of being onsite.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires working in an open production facility. the person in this position must be able to:
- Frequent ability to walk, stand, move, and/or navigate in an open warehouse environment
- Frequent operation of a forklift. Must be able to pass a forklift driving test within 1 week of being onsite
- Frequent ability to:
o Climb > 50% of the time
o Balance > 50% of the time
o Stoop > 50% of the time

- Lifting up to 75 lbs.
