Responsibilities

This position will be responsible for installation and repairs of campus doors, door hardware, locksets, and cylinders.

Performs the installation of locking and non-locking hardware consisting of and not limited to Electronic Hardware, Panic Devices, Mortise locks, Cylindrical Locks, Door Closers, Latch Guards, and Cam Locks. Responsible for re-keying IC Core and Standard Pin Tumbler and Wafer Locks. Master keying knowledge consisting of creating a Bitting Array and the ability to create impression Wafer Locks.

Upholds FSU life safety codes and policies stated in guidelines for the University while maintaining the physical security on campus. This pertains to all locking devices. Determines requirements for locking devices and systems by reading blueprints and understanding the fundamentals of hardware and keying schedules. Works with Project Managers providing keys and cores/cylinders for new and renovated spaces.

Utilizes computer skills to maintain and collect information for Master Key Systems and fabrication of keys by code. Issues forms for employees for the FSUCard Shop making Bar Codes for Facilities cards pertaining to Grainger purchases. Uses hand tools, and power tools and operates key fabricating code machines to cut new or duplicate keys and stamps.

Serves as a point of contact for the university key shop front office including providing card and key access to Vendors and Contractors, processing key requests on Key Shop email from Key Managers to Key Control, maintenance of inventory of key blanks (restricted and standard), and key issuance. Maintains master key files and records of keys distributed, ensuring safety and security of materials and data.

Operates mobile equipment and/or campus vehicles including trucks, golf carts, personal lifts, and forklifts. Maintains valid driver’s license, is certified on other equipment, and completes required training. Maintains a professional and safe work environment, shop, tools, etc.

Demonstrates proficient use of AiM mobile devices and other necessary administrative software. Completes other relevant duties as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma/equivalency and two years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a combination of post-high school education and experience equal to two years related to the duties of this position.
(Note: Technical or vocational degree in appropriate building trade area may substitute at an equivalent rate.)
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to interpret complex written specifications and conditions.
Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
Knowledge of and ability to safely operate machinery, tools, equipment, and materials used in area of work.
Ability to meet project deadlines.
A valid Florida or Georgia driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
