Job Summary:
This is a fast-paced, dynamic position that is hands-on, physical, customer facing and team oriented. We are looking for professional drivers that demonstrate the ability to work both independently and within a team environment, are detail oriented, communicate well and are interested in a career-oriented position with long-term growth potential.
Our drivers routinely operate the following types of equipment, and we are seeking candidates that can be cross-trained to operate; dry vans, flatbeds, vacuum tankers, walking floor trailers, dump trailers, roll-off trailers and roll-off straight trucks, vacuum trucks, air mover/guzzler trucks and box trucks.
We operate primarily as a local fleet and our drivers are home almost every night. This position includes work that does require occasional overnight stays approximately 10-20% of the time. Accommodation and per-diems are provided for all work that requires an overnight stay. Currently, our weekends operate on a rotational schedule with the expectation that drivers are available for one weekend per month.
Requirements:
-Ability to frequently lift, push and pull weights up to 50lbs.
-Ability to occasionally lift, push and pull weight exceeding 50lbs.
-Ability to occasionally stand for long periods of time
-Ability to safely maneuver on-to and off-of various truck and trailer types (van trailer, flatbed, walking floor, tanker trailers, vacuum trucks, etc.)
-Physical dexterity to grasp, tighten and loosen various handles, hoses, valves, chains, straps etc.
-Ability to learn and operate daily electronic GPS and DVIR software through smartphone or tablet.
-Ability to read and understand both written and verbal communication and write and record accurate notes, weights, volumes, mileage, times, quantity, and container types on dispatches, BOL’s and manifests.
Desired Skills:
-Previous experience within the waste or recycling industries.
-Previous experience operating any vacuum or hydraulic equipment, attachments, or machinery.
-Previous experience with roll-off equipment.
-Basic mechanical knowledge.
-Experience in a customer facing role or team-oriented work environment.
-Basic math and problem-solving skills.
-Adaptability and comfort working within a continually evolving environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 60 per week
