JOB SUMMARY:
The Local Good Pantry Transportation Coordinator is part of a team that offers food service to community members experiencing food insecurity. The Coordinator is responsible for the pickup and delivery of food through direct interactions with the public, partner organizations, and the North Texas Food Bank. This is a part-time, 25-hours-per-week position.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pick up food at grocery stores and/or markets along designated route
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with store/market managers and vendors
- Work with Logistics of the routes to maximize efficiency of food collection
- Unload food, weigh food, and position food in the warehouse to assist the warehouse staff
- Pick up and unload donated food as designated by North Texas Food Bank
- Maintain tracking log for weights and management of food received by grocery partners and NTFB
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle daily
- Collect and report required information on mileage, fueling, and maintenance of vehicles
- Follow all applicable driving regulations as required by the State of Texas
- Perform other tasks and duties as needed by Local Good Pantry Director
JOB PROFILE:
SPECIFIC SKILLS / STRENGTHS
- Demonstrated ability and experience driving box trucks
- Ability to work well, both individually and as a part of a team
- Commitment to provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations
EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience driving a 26-foot (or any length) box truck
- Experience with electric and manual pallet jacks required
- Ability to lift objects of 50 pounds continually, as well as occasionally lift objects up to 100 pounds and load them into vehicles
- Valid driver’s license
- A motor vehicle record (MVR) without any violations, accidents or other infractions in the past two years and no major violations in the past ten years
EDUCATION:
- Minimum high school diploma; college degree preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Able to speak effectively and understandably to our NTFB partners and the community
- Able to respond to common inquiries about the Local Good Pantry
- Bi-lingual a plus
COMPUTER SKILLS
- Able to use Excel/Google Sheets to maintain tracking log for weights and management of food received by grocery partners and NTFB.
- Basic knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. The employee must be able to stand continuously for up to 3 hours at a time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to handle and reach, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- While picking up and distributing food, the employee will be exposed to a wide array of environmental conditions including extreme heat and cold, rain, and inclement weather. All personnel may be required to perform duties outside of their normal responsibilities from time to time, as needed.
