Form of workSCOPE OF POSITION:
A Commercial Truck Driver deliver and retrieve parts and products both in finished and unfinished forms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Deliver loads locally and within a 5-state area: MN, ND, SD, IA, and WI.
- Climbs on trucks to help secure loads.
- Assists in the Load Shed as needed.
- Pick up parts and materials as needed.
- Check truck daily for potential safety hazards.
- Ability to navigate to destination.
- Follows Aebi Schmidt driver safety policy, including cell phone policy.
- Provides friendly, professional service.
- Able to perform all operations within acceptable time and quality standards.
- Completes all paperwork in a timely manner.
- Keeps truck maintained and clean.
- Maintains a professional manner when representing the company.
- Handles heavy traffic in a calm and professional manner.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs without assistance, including push and pull motions.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move over 50lbs with assistance, including push and pull motions.
- Ability to use cranes and hoists.
- Ability to work from various squatting, kneeling, on back, bending positions.
- Ability to work with arms above head.
- Ability to safely use hand, air, pneumatic, and power tools, and machinery.
- Ability to understand and operate all safety equipment in the area.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to work in a noisy and dusty environment.
- Ability to work safely on ladders or scaffolding.
- Ability to climb loads up to 13’6 high.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and verbally communicate simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and layout and other written or verbal instructions presented in English.
- Ability to communicate with customers, acting as intermediary when necessary.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
Position Characteristics:
Supervisory responsibilities: No
Education: GED/High School Diploma
Experience: 2 years commercial driving experience
Certification/Licensure: Active Commercial Driver's license and clean driving record
Hours: 40, overtime as needed.
Hazards:
- PPE; the company provides personal protective equipment as required by OSHA, including hearing, eye, and head, as needed.
- Rain/cold gear provided by company.
- Working with sharp materials.
- Heavy workload wit high noise levels (up to and over 85 decibels)
- Fumes and exposure to chemicals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions.
