Purpose: The Loan Officer will assist members with all consumer and real estate loans and provide financial counseling when needed, all while working within the guidelines established by the Board and Regulatory agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Assists members in completing all consumer and real estate loan applications.
- Reviews incoming loan applications; verifies debts; verifies employment; calculates monthly payments; calculates debt ratios; evaluates credit reports; determines collateral needs; determines eligibility of co-makers.
- Gathers and processes all items related to real estate lending transactions (fixed and variable rate products). This includes, but is not limited to, processing the loan application, preparing early/closing disclosures, preparation of closing documents, coordinating with multiple parties throughout the process and keeping the member informed of the progression from start to finish.
- Evaluates applicants’ financial statements and makes credit decisions within the policies and guidelines established by the Board of Directors and in accordance with Federal and State laws and regulations’ being knowledgeable concerning rules and regulations governing all aspects of consumer/real estate lending.
- Reviews terms and conditions of loan with applicant(s).
- Inputs loan data into the loan operating system (LOS) and other Credit Union systems as needed.
- Prepares all loan and supplemental documentation, along with denial letters.
- Closes loans, disburses funds and handles file maintenance.
- Maintains an active, in good standing, Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) NMLS Registry ID record.
- Secures Credit Union liens and maintains proper loan documentation to meet all Federal, State and Credit Union underwriting requirements.
- Follows-up on all outstanding loan documentation until received/resolved.
- Answers the telephone and assists members, both virtually and in-person.
- Assists management in the implementation of new loan products and services as required.
- Cross-services other Credit Union products to assist member financial goals.
In addition to the above responsibilities, the Loan Officer may be required to do the following:
· Attend monthly committee and/or department meetings, read material, perform assignments, attend specialized training, and cross train in other areas as requested by Management.
· Track disability insurance, assist with Collateral Protection processing and/or work delinquent loans as requested by Management.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Incumbent must be able to move throughout the Credit Union and perform a variety of physical activities to accomplish the goals of the Credit Union. Must be able to walk, sit, bend, reach, stoop, and open fireproof file drawers. Manual dexterity in the operation of calculating machines and computer keyboards is required. Working conditions are characterized in part by normal office conditions in a temperature-controlled environment sitting at a desk or computer terminal for extended periods. Frequent telephone usage is required.
