The Sullivan Development and Activity Center, Inc (SDAC) is looking for a Live-in Caregiver to join our team! The Live-in Caregiver will be responsible for providing direct care and support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities. The Live-In Caregiver helps individuals achieve their personal goals, enhance their independence, and participate in community activities. The role involves fostering a positive and inclusive environment while ensuring the safety and well-being of those under their care.
Responsibilities:
Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
Provide support for mobility and other physical activities as needed.
Implement behavior support plans designed to address challenging behaviors and promote positive alternatives.
Monitor and document individual behaviors, reporting any significant changes or concerns to supervisors.
Support individuals in developing and maintaining life skills, including communication, socialization, and vocational skills.
Implement training programs to enhance independence and community integration.
Administer medications according to prescribed schedules and document accurately.
Monitor individuals for any adverse reactions or side effects and report to medical professionals as necessary.
Facilitate community outings, social activities, and recreational events.
Accompanies clients to scheduled appointments and transports clients or running errands for clients.
Encourage and assist individuals in participating in community life and building social connections.
Maintain open communication with individuals, their families, and other team members.
Advocate for the rights and needs of individuals, ensuring they are treated with dignity and respect.
Respond appropriately to crisis situations, following established protocols and ensuring the safety of all individuals involved.
Report incidents promptly and accurately to Supervisor.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation. Documentation is required for every work shift.
Complete required reports and paperwork in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in a related field is a plus).
Ability to work in a group home, home-like settings.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
Must have experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Knowledge of person-centered planning and individualized support.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Communication skills (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company.
Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
Ability to handle challenging behaviors with patience and empathy.
Basic first aid and CPR certification (Required upon hiring)
