We are currently in search of a Litigation Paralegal to join the team in Washington, D.C. office. The Litigation Paralegal plays an integral role in litigation, investigations, and trial divisions. Currently, this is a hybrid role, 3 days per week in office.
Key Responsibilities:
- Under the supervision of attorneys, conduct research, encompassing factual, legal, online, and other areas, to pinpoint issues and pertinent information. Organize data and produce detailed documentation summarizing significant discoveries.
- Perform meticulous legal and factual citation verification tasks, such as creating Tables of Authorities, Tables of Contents, shepardizing, and editing briefs according to Blue Book standards and applicable court regulations. Proficiency in cite-checking and use of blue book standards.
- Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, trials, and arbitrations when necessary. Coordinate the compilation of exhibits and supplementary materials for legal filings, witness presentations, depositions, and trial proceedings. Summarize deposition and trial documents.
- Possess competence in all phases of litigation, including familiarity with e-Discovery, e-filing procedures, and trial preparation activities.
- Draft, review, and analyze routine legal documents as requested by attorneys.
- Collaborate with the Litigation Support Department to develop and manage document review platforms, with a preference for experience in Concordance and Relativity. Comprehend legal technology terminology and concepts.
- Engage with clients, external vendors, expert witnesses, and other law firms to acquire and share information and data.
- Arrange for services from external contractors, including court reporters and filing services. Handle billing and disbursement paperwork related to these services.
- Act as a liaison between the project team and various support departments and firm offices.
- Collect and distribute case materials to the project team as necessary.
- Manage filings, mailings, and service of legal documents with relevant courts, government agencies, and other involved parties.
- Maintain electronic databases containing pleadings, files, calendars, and other case-related materials.
- Fulfill any other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree is required
- 3+ years experience in a similar role is required
- Proficiency in cite-checking briefs and blue booking is required.
- Mandatory litigation background: Proficiency in handling Discovery processes, E-Filing procedures, and Trial Preparation. Strong research skills and the capacity to attend depositions, trials, hearings, etc., are essential.
- While a Paralegal Certificate is not obligatory, possessing one would be considered an advantage.
- An approachable personality is vital, as the role involves interacting with clients and adapting to various attorney personalities with ease.
- The ability to embrace occasional travel and occasional overtime is a must

Pay: $90,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
