Responsible to organize, develop, plan, coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operations of the On/Off sale Liquor Store. Provide a controlled retail service to the community at a profit; provide development of retail objectives and merchandising. Prepare marketing and merchandising concepts for the local advertising paper. Establish policies and procedures guaranteeing compliance with applicable laws and regulations and maintain proper store inventories. Ensure conformance of all liquor industry practices and makes sure employees are aware of safety and legal issues. Including all necessary liquor training required for employees.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
*Knowledge of and ability to follow laws related to the sale of liquor and operation of a business.
*Knowledge of liquor/tobacco laws and marketing/advertising techniques.
*Knowledge of liquor industry and Liquor Store management including merchandising, retail sales and customer service.
*Knowledge of and ability to follow relevant city ordinances and policies.
*Skill in making timely purchases of inventory and controlling inventory.
*Ability to use judgment and discretion in sales based on factors such as age and state of inebriation.
*Ability to supervise and motivate employees and promote safety in the workplace.
*Ability to communicate effectively with the public, elected officials and sales personnel.
*Ability to use a computer, computerized cash register and 10-key calculator.
*Ability to safely move/lift/carry (10-50 pounds) cases of beer and liquor.
*Ability to work flexible hours when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience with merchandising, inventory control procedures
*Experience with a computerized inventory system.
*Experience in employee supervision.
*Knowledge of gambling laws and procedures to ensure accuracy.
