The Liquidity Analyst will support key risk monitoring activities that serve Liquidity Management objectives of CIBC's US Region entities. This role will have a forward-looking liquidity management focus, conducting analysis to support Cash Flow Forecasting (CFF), Liquidity Metric projections, Liquidity Metric calibration, and Liquidity Risk assessments.
This is a position within the Liquidity Analytics group, a function within the Bank's Treasury department, tasked with managing, monitoring, and reporting on the liquidity risks of US Region entities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated technical expertise, analytical thinking, and ability to communicate findings to senior analysts and managers. The candidate will also have a fundamental understanding of banking, balance sheet management, and risk management concepts.
The Liquidity Analyst may also, from time to time, provide support for other key liquidity risk management functions within the team, including but not limited to: Internal Liquidity Stress Testing (ILST), FR 2052a, Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) and Contingency Funding Planning (CFP).
Within this function, in a multi-faceted and high profile environment, the candidate is accountable for:

  • Execution of daily short term Cash Flow Forecasting and Liquidity Metric projections for US Region material entities
  • Execution of long term Cash Flow Forecasting and Liquidity Metric projections for management and executive committee materials
  • Assisting in the annual review and calibration of all Liquidity Metrics for US Region material entities
  • Assisting in the assessment of idiosyncratic and systemic liquidity risks on an ongoing basis
  • Communicating findings of analysis, both written and verbally
  • Assisting in enhancing documentation of the Cash Flow Forecasting model
  • Supporting the implementation of effective process and control, in accordance to internal and external quality standards and requirements for liquidity reporting.
  • Conducting back-testing variance analysis of Liquidity Metric projections
  • Participate in projects to improve existing reporting applications and model designs/processes as required
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations on a number of liquidity risk topics for a variety of forums and audiences

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Successful candidates must exhibit CIBC's values of trust, team work and accountability
  • Must have a university degree in Business/Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Knowledge of Capital Markets and US Money Markets is a plus
  • 2 years of work experience in the Banking/Financial Institution industry
  • Expertise in Excel, proficiency in Word and Power point
  • Skills in other data tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and SQL; financial modeling experience a plus
  • Ability to create professional PowerPoint decks to be presented to Senior Management
  • High attention to detail and a demonstrated ability to deliver results
