Atlas Tech, a veteran-owned IT company serving multiple DoD customers in support of America's warfighters, is looking for Linux Software Tester in Charleston, SC. The Software Tester with have a strong Windows Systems Administrator background. This position is part of a diverse technical team supporting major Naval Messaging programs (e.g., C2OIX, NAVMACS II) of the Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic. Successful candidates will work closely with system engineers/developers to design and execute targeted and end-to-end tests validating system functionality. We are seeking motivated, analytical, and detail-oriented IT professionals to join our growing team and collaborate on solving technical challenges.
Pay Scale: $53,571 - $83,646 depending on experience
You Will:
- Perform software product testing on Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based networks
- Work with development team to reproduce/troubleshoot issues encountered during testing
- Configure and maintain test environment
- Assist Subject Matter Experts and Technical Writers with documentation efforts (test cases, test reports, software load plans)
- Track all changes and update documents as required and ensure updated documents are staffed to lead engineer for approval
- Troubleshoot and document software anomalies and deficiencies
- Assist in management of project test beds and network devices, including configuration of Linux and Windows-based test support systems and layer 2 & 3 switches and routers
You Have:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Possession of or the ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Level Security Clearance
- The ability to work onsite daily.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7/8 Server Operating Systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of hardware specifications found in desktops, laptops, tablets and servers
- Strong documentation and oral communication skills
- The ability to multi-task and balance multiple goals and priorities
- Self-motivation, strong work ethic and commitment to quality
- A passion for learning about, and working in the IT industry
- 2+ years of experience with software testing and test processes
- A CompTIA Security+ CE or ability to receive within 3 months
- 8+ years experience working with a wide range of IT products
We would be impressed if you have experience with:
- Experience with Navy IT-21 networks using COMPOSE and CANES
- Experience with Red Hat 7, 8 and 9
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies using oVirt, ESX VMWare and Microsoft Windows Hyper-V:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and above
- ESX VMWare 3.5 and above
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and above
- Experience with Microsoft Windows XP, 7, 10, and 11
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Server Update Services
- Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals
