PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Expert understanding and experience with the Linux kernel
- Advanced programming skills in C for operating system kernel & systems development
- Exposure to KVM/QEMU (including x86-64 virtualization extensions) is a plus.
- Experience with the GNU toolchain.
- Proficient in using git.
- Experience with open-source software development, building and submitting patches on a mailing list, and working with external software partners.
- Deep understanding of operating systems concepts, data structures, x86-64 architecture, and virtualization
- Strong Experience with low-level debug tools including crash dump analysis
- Experience running, analyzing, and tuning system performance benchmarks.

THE ROLE:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Linux Kernel and Virtualization developer to join our dynamic team. As a Linux Kernel and Virtualization developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core CPU and SOC features for virtualization technologies on x86-64 architecture. Your expertise will be essential in optimizing system performance, ensuring security, and driving innovation in our software infrastructure. This is a challenging role that requires in-depth knowledge of Linux kernel internals, virtualization technologies, and a strong passion for open-source software.
Primary focus will be Debug specialist, requiring solid understanding of x86-64 platforms, Linux kernel boot, I/O, virtualization, and debug tools. Triage, debug, and root-cause Linux kernel failures and driving resolution (whether software, firmware, microcode, silicon, or test case) in support of the development of AMD CPUs. Must be able to collaborate with cross-geo development engineering teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Triage, debug, and resolution of Linux kernel reported issues on AMD CPUs (internal, public, customer/partner).
- Collaborate with the team to design and implement features and improvements and bug fixes in the Linux kernel and virtualization stack.
- Contribute to the development, maintenance, and optimization of the Linux kernel.
- Contribute to code reviews, adhere to coding standards, and maintain high-quality code within the Linux kernel and virtualization projects.
- Participate in debugging and troubleshooting activities to identify and resolve performance, stability, and compatibility issues.
- Support performance analysis and tuning efforts to enhance system scalability, responsiveness, and resource utilization.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in Linux kernel development and virtualization technologies and share insights with the team.
- Document design specifications, implementation details, and troubleshooting guides to facilitate knowledge sharing and support.
