The Linen Services Sorter assumes responsibility and accountability for maintaining a continuous flow of segregated soiled linens into the washroom. - Collects bags of soiled linen from clinical areas. Loads bags into carts. Returns loaded carts to soiled area to be sorted.
- Sorts soiled articles according to type of treatment each will receive during laundering.
- Loads pockets on conveyer belt according to procedure.
- Loads and unloads delivery truck personally and secures heavy articles.
- Weighs all loads coming in and makes sure poundage report is filled in accordingly.
- Washes and returns empty linen carts to laundry when clean.
- Assists in operating washroom machinery to include dryer and lint filters as necessary to maintain appropriate work flow.
- Assists in the production of processing clean linen as necessary to maintain appropriate work flow.
- Responsible for cleaning of work area.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Demonstrates competency in the skills detailed in the areas of responsibility of this job description.
- Physically fit. Moderate physical effort is required such as lifting and transporting linen bags that may weigh greater than 40 pounds per bag.
