YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)

The Housekeeping Linen Attendant will play an important role for placing soiled linen in hampers, separating specialty linen and reject linen bags within the hotel as directed. The Linen Attendant will be responsible for performing all phases of linen receiving & paperwork, linen distribution & the stocking of closets, linen inventories, maintaining linen chutes, & outgoing shipments.

Requirements:

THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)

  • Operate linen and trash chutes and conveyors
  • Ability to operate electrical cart while towing linen bins or trash
  • Ability to stock and maintain pro-host cart system
  • Load, unload, push, and pull linen bins with clean and soiled linen
  • Inventory and order linen and supplies for various departments, including but not limited to housekeeping, food and beverage, spa, pool and banquets
  • Receive and weigh linen
  • Record and document weights, quantities, delivery times, linen types
  • Transport soiled and clean linen to designated locations throughout the property
  • Maintain linen and supply inventories in linen rooms
  • Clean and mop all locker rooms and straighten shelves
  • Report any safety and security concerns
  • Monitor scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on departmental equipment
  • Provide exceptional, courteous, friendly service to guests and employees
  • Provide Linen Attendant coverage daily
  • Maintain the cleanliness of all areas assigned
  • Send and receive communication through a variety of communication devices
  • Maintain a clean DMV record
  • Provide a current Nevada Motor Vehicle Report to the department leader and Risk Management every 6 months
  • Immediately notify department leader of any changes to the Nevada Driver's License status
  • Other duties as requested

WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)

  • At least 6 months of Housekeeping or similar experience
  • High school diploma or an equivalent
  • Working knowledge of Housekeeping Department including safety and OSHA regulatory guidelines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Polished appearance and demeanor
  • Ability to obtain and maintain full knowledge and understanding of company and department rules and regulations, policies, and procedures
  • At least 18 years of age

  • Background must-have
  • Read English to comprehend documentation regarding chemicals and safety precautions
  • Use the equipment associated with the position, including but not limited to power tools, hand tools, buffing machine, extractor, wet vac, vacuum cleaner, telephones, and pager
  • Effectively and efficiently move around work area
  • Learn the specific functions of preventative maintenance procedures
  • Must possess a basic knowledge of all phases of repairs and can work with tools
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift heavy loads the skills necessary of position can typically acquire through a minimum of two years mechanical repair experience in the hotel industry, engineering/maintenance, or related field

WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S

  • Previous linen experience
  • Previous experience in a large, luxury resort setting
  • 6 months to 1 year of Utility Housekeeping work
  • 1-2 year experience in mechanical repair within the hotel industry

THE WORKING CONDITIONS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This role requires:

  • Work is performed in the housekeeping office and throughout the resort
  • Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise levels, temperatures, illumination, smoke, and air quality
  • Virgin Hotels Las Vegas is a pet friendly property. You may come into direct contact with pet dander and hair
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
  • Constant contact with executives, department management, applicants, employees, and guests
  • Prolonged sitting or standing and mobility
  • Bending and reaching
  • Transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 100lbs.
  • Strong eye/hand coordination
  • Use of standard office equipment
  • Basic math
  • Ability to push and/or pull item up to 100lbs.
  • Ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Ability to comply with policies and procedures, job description, daily memorandums, chemical labels (MSDS) and other instructions
