Job description

Under general direction of the Regional Engineering Manager and under the direct supervision of the assigned resource team leader, performs assigned tasks for lighting projects. Responsibilities include but are not limited to working as part of a team to conduct site audits and end-user interviews to gather accurate data for the evaluation of retrofit options. Works with others to determine feasibility of technology and strategy implementation while still meeting customer financial goals.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
Using specialized tools, inspection equipment, and data collection media, performs a comprehensive building inventory (predominately lighting) and prepares detailed reports of the customer's existing system and inventory as scoped by others. Executes, evaluates, and generates field reading reports of kW power quality measurements using company provided metering equipment. Works with the customer's facility managers or designated representatives to complete assigned tasks on time and within budget. Prepares accurate asset information documents to include but not limited to: location reference maps, quantities, light levels, interior and exterior fixture & pole description data, site interview forms, common room drawings, high and low bay layout drawings, as well as any other deliverables that may be deemed necessary to provide best-in-class lighting proposals. Using a power analyzer to take power readings as required at various areas within customer locations to determine power quality and consumption of existing light equipment in accordance with directed sampling guidelines. Deploys and retrieves runtime lighting and occupancy data logging devices. Responsible for maintaining all tools per JCI guidelines. Performs project takeoffs reading plans and lighting schedules. Responsible for the promotion and adherence of JCI safety policies. Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety. Works to secure & maintain relevant professional certifications and licenses (e.g., LEED, CALT, and CLEP, leading to LC). Responsible for remaining current with relevant design standards and practices. Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate degree preferred or 2yrs equivalent lighting design and installation experience required. CALT preferred.
  • Understands various existing lighting systems & possesses the skills to recognize and communicate characteristics of lighting equipment.
  • Understands light color, color rendering, lumen and lumen maintenance, lamp life, ballast factors, system wattage and efficacy of the various systems. Understands the impact of; utility rates, system wattages and operating hours on the overall operating cost of the system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the standard Measurement & Verification protocols.
  • Understands the requirements for electrical installations, circuitry, load and voltage. Familiar with the National Electrical Code, IESNA recommended lighting levels. Able to read standard building construction drawings.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate in a professional manner via formal written and oral means to most levels of management.
  • Ability to compose, send, and reply to emails using various email applications. Can transfer, rename, and resize digital pictures.
  • General familiarity with most Microsoft Office products. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to use iPad for field data collection and able to adapt to in house developed technology.
  • Must be self-motivated, organized, and have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work remotely in a virtual team environment.
  • Must be able to be granted access to high security facilities through various federal and state background investigations.
  • Must be able to climb ladders. Position requires prolonged standing/walking/driving.
  • Clean Driving Record.
  • Travel up to 90%, including cross country. May periodically require stays over weekends or weekend travel.
