Front Desk Attendant

Vision & Mission of Shepherd’s House Ministries Navigation Services

Shepherd’s House Ministries Navigation Services exists to transform pain, fear, and brokenness, into safety, love, and belonging. We seek to create safe, welcoming, and inclusive environments that meet basic needs, allow for rest, promote health, support relationship, and highlight pathways to restoration as people work together toward personal well-being and a sustainable livelihood.

Status: Full-time (40hrs per week)

Compensation: $18-21hr (depending on experience and education)

Summary of Program

Shepherd’s House Ministries Navigation Services exists to support unhoused community members in Central Oregon by helping to identify and acquire the necessary documentation, resources, support, and self-sufficiency needed to procure and maintain housing. Additionally, we help people connect with job training, employment opportunities, and assistance with mental/physical health and substance abuse needs. This work is done through onsite case management and the additional support of resource providers and community partners throughout Central Oregon. We have two Navigation Services emergency shelters and two outreach programs that support our unhoused community members throughout the region.

Summary of Position

We take a team approach to the work we do here. Although each staff member has certain responsibilities that he/she oversees, we all serve together and support one another so the work is accomplished. The Front Desk Attendant will work collaboratively with the case management team, community partners, and volunteers to create pathways to health and recovery for people seeking to move out of a houseless reality and into permanent and supportive housing. In this capacity, the Front Desk Attendant will oversee the reception of people as they engage our Navigation Services facilities and aid them as they seek to connect with participants, providers, and staff. Additionally, the Front Desk Attendant will manage the flow of the reception area, maintain cleanliness and order, and ensure the safe transport of all materials arriving through the front door. This position will assist the Director of Navigation Services in creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and healing environment for people to address their physical, emotional, and mental needs. The Front Desk Attendant will perform his or her duties and responsibilities to care for the needs of our participants, to enhance the fulfillment of our mission, to collaborate well with all community partners, and to provide a safe and healing environment to all present in our community.

Specific Responsibilities/Tasks

1. Provide a welcoming, safe environment at our Navigation Services facilities where participants are encouraged to access and benefit from, day-use activities and navigation services.

2. Support and assist the Director of Navigation Services in connecting with and directing people looking to access our Navigation Services facilities.

3. Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and orderly with all necessary supplies, logs, and equipment.

4. Maintain facility security by ensuring all safety procedures are followed.

5. Order and organize office supplies as needed.

6. Receive and transport donations to appropriate locations throughout the facility and notify appropriate staff.

7. Engage all entrants to our facilities with a kind and curious posture to identify the purpose of their visit and direct them accordingly.

8. Respond to and direct incoming phone calls and messages to the appropriate participant, staff member, or provider.

9. Collect, sort, and distribute mail for participants and guests of our facilities.

10. Record and report information pertaining but not limited to occupancy, participation, connections, transitions, and exits.

11. Guide and assist clients in the pursuit of health, stability, and recovery, by helping them establish and navigate relationships with service providers and community partners.

12. Guide and assist volunteers as they establish and navigate their relationship with our community, our clients, and our team.

13. Collaborate with the Navigation Services team, service providers, and volunteers to identify and pursue new and creative ways to address “chronic houselessness” in our region.

14. Partake in providing safe, secure, and sanitary operation of our facilities through cooperation with appropriate SHM staff and volunteers.

15. Under the supervision of the Front Desk Coordinator, partake in procurement and availability of ongoing supplies, equipment, and other needs for operation of our facilities and in fulfillment of our mission.

16. Fulfill all other relevant duties, tasks, and responsibilities communicated by the Director of Navigation Services, Associate Director of Navigation Services, Administrative Director of Navigation Services, and other SHM supervisors connected with our Navigation Services facilities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
