TITLE: Life Skills Program Teacher Leader
LOCATION: District-wide
SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Services and/or Assistant Superintendent of Student Services
JOB SUMMARY: The Life Skills ProgramTeacher Leader will assist with the coordination of programming and services as listed in the essential functions below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Collaborate and problem solve with special education Life Skills teachers and staff to ensure student needs are met
- Assist with developing and providing teaching assistant training in the Life Skills Program
- Support special education teachers in the use of the DLM assessment, as appropriate, for students with IEPs
- Meet frequently with the director of student services to facilitate alignment of services
- Support district initiatives as they relate to students and staff in the Life Skills Program
- Other duties and tasks as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree, from an accredited college or university, with licensure and endorsements as a Learning Behavior Specialist I.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 3 years of successful teaching experience, preferably working with students in a Life Skills Program
- Evidence of successful collaboration with other staff
- Experience in providing professional development and facilitating adult learners
- Experience and knowledge in the relation to instruction and instructional processes and in facilitating the delivery of effective instruction.
LICENSES/CREDENTIALS: Professional Educator License with Special Education LBS1 (PreK-21) endorsement required.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to make differentiated instructional plans based on student data
- Strong background in managing IEPs and effective special education practices
- Strong background in data analysis, effective teaching practices, and differentiation
- Ability to form strong professional relationships with colleagues
- Proficiency in word processing and a strong working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while being detail-oriented
