Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Life Enrichment Manager is for to develop, implement and manage a comprehensive program of activities designed to meet the social, emotional, recreational and psychosocial needs of residents. The Life Enrichment Manager will oversee and supervise the Life Enrichment staff and manage the department budget.


Essential Job Functions:


Healthcare:

  • Assume the authority, responsibility and accountability of managing the Life Enrichment department
  • Accomplish specific departmental objectives as agreed upon with Supervisor
  • Develop a Plan of Care for each health care resident and document accordingly
  • Maintain daily and monthly evaluations of resident participation in activities and document accordingly
  • Develop, implement, and maintain current policy and procedures
  • Develop an annual activity strategy and monthly calendar of group activities for each living area on campus including Independent Living, Assisted Living and health care
  • Arrange special parties with residents, families and staff
  • Supervise and coordinate volunteers
  • Attend staff meetings, participate in In-Service education classes, Safety Program, and Care Plans
  • Organize and schedule area activity meeting
  • Develop and maintain the department budget
  • Attend continuing education meetings to maintain professions status
  • Represent department’s interests at regular and special meetings on campus and in the community
  • Attend department head and other meetings as needed and give input regarding area of expertise
  • Serve as a member of the Comfort Matters Training program team


Assisted Living:

  • Collaborate with the Assisted Living Life Enrichment Coordinator in all duties related to the establishment and fulfillment of vibrant, resident centered programming
  • Initiate ongoing opportunities to gather resident feedback and make appropriate programming adjustments


Independent Living:

  • Develop a monthly calendar
  • Organize and recruit special programs
  • Provide six (6) trips per year
  • Make and post signs for events
  • Work with transportation on scheduling for trips such as Dillions, Life Enrichment, etc.
  • Communicate with Independent Living Staff
  • Oversee training and maintenance, and facilitate use of the Trio Bike


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be at least eighteen [18] years of age.
  • Must have completed some college, Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Must be or able to obtain Social Services Designee/Activity Director certification within 1-year of hire date.
  • Must be or able to become a Certified Nurse Aide within 1-year of hire date.
  • Must have valid KS driver’s license and meet Bluestem driving requirements.
  • Must be knowledgeable of patient care levels and have ability to tailor events to needs of participants.
  • Must be aware of cognitive processes that affect resident’s quality of life.
  • Must demonstrate effective communication skills, ability to interact with a wide variety of residents, staff members and outside care providers.
  • Must be able to discuss and coordinate treatment plans with other healthcare professionals, such as nutritionists and social workers.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership skills in order to successfully plan and execute a variety of events.
  • Must be able to design events that are both fun and beneficial, while keeping in mind specific needs of each participant.
  • Must be able to create many ways to engage residents based on varying abilities.

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
