Job Description
The Lidar Project Leader is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and has responsibility and ownership of management of Lidar projects including defining requirements, task and resource assignments, and solving complex issues to ensure that quality levels and deadlines are met. This position is responsible for keeping ISO processes and work instructions current and training all team members to understand and comply with them.
Direct Reports: Lidar staff report to the Director of 3-D Mapping, with a dotted line to the Lidar Product Leader regarding technical expertise and project management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Plans, develops and manages project deliverables and schedules
- Organizes and assigns work, sets priorities, and collaborates with technical staff daily
- Provides direction, coaching, and training to technical staff for efficiency and process compliance; assists with new hire onboarding as needed.
- Ensures all work meets quality standards of first-time client acceptance and on-time final deliveries.
- Reviews, revises, and trains technical staff on ISO Work Instructions, ensuring compliance.
- Identifies and recommends alternative solutions to resolve complex issues.
- Keeps abreast of advancements in Lidar, attends training sessions and seminars as appropriate to maintain technical expertise.
- Provides technical support to Marketing and Business Development with proposals, client presentations, and at conferences.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography or Geospatial field or a combination of college coursework and work experience
- Minimum of 5 years' experience with Lidar data production and quality control
- Minimum of 3 years' experience performing calibrations and relative alignment
- Experience leading meetings and making presentations
- Adaptability to changing schedules and priorities based on client needs
Preferred:
- Advanced use of TerraSolid, LasTools and StripAlign applications
- Experience training technical staff on products and services
Physical Demand:
- Visual acuity - ability to distinguish full color spectrum
- The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- The ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlines
Working Conditions:
- Low light working conditions
- Work conducted in an office setting
