What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking an experienced Licensing Professional to support licensing of Intellectual Property. You will be responsible for ensuring commercialization of Sandia's intellectual property portfolio through licensing of Sandia technologies with a focus on achieving a return on investment.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
  • Negotiate licensing agreements and anticipate, understand, and react to potential and current sponsor or customer needs.
  • Identify, develop, and implement both near-term and long-term strategies for development of technologies, services, follow-on programs, or industries.
  • Achieve commercialization revenue targets.
  • Provide technical, scientific and business guidance to customers, sponsors, and staff/management responding to technology commercialization related questions, issues, and problems.
  • Manage on-going customer and sponsor relationships for Sandia for mission benefit.
  • Identify potential licensees and conduct sales calls.

Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
$90,900 - $207,100
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering related field PLUS a graduate degree in a science, engineering, or legal field
  • Three years' relevant experience
  • Experience successfully working with partners, and negotiating and executing license agreements for advanced technologies (patents and software) in a multitude of national security areas
  • Experience negotiating contracts and/or settlements with multiple parties
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q Security Clearance

Qualifications We Desire
  • PhD in Science or Engineering field or JD
  • Track record of delivering commercialization results in a licensing position (e.g. achieves commercialization targets).
  • Knowledge of and experience with state-of-the-art licensing advanced technologies and management of technology processes
  • Experience meeting business goals in a complex regulatory environment

About Our Team
The Technology Partnerships Agreements, Intellectual Property (IP), and Business & Competitive Intelligence Department 1982 is responsible for negotiating and executing CRADA, NFE and Licensing agreements, managing and deploying Sandia's IP portfolio, and providing data driven decision support for program development and technology commercialization.

Sandia is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs
If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Position Information
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
