About the Position
Licensed Vocational Nurse (Psychiatric LVN) provides support to up to four adult and one child/adolescent psychiatrists in an outpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have two or more years of professional experience working in a mental health or psychiatric program setting is preferred. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment using a person-centered team approach. Working knowledge of serious mental illness diagnoses including psychiatric terminology, working knowledge of psychotropic medications, and the ability to provide care management for individuals experiencing a mental health crisis or have a history of psychiatric hospitalizations is required. Experience providing services to individuals with a co-occurring Substance Use Disorder is also highly desirable.

This recruitment being conducted to fill one full-time in the Health & Human Services Agency. The list established by this recruitment may also be used to fill future full-time, part-time, limited term, and extra help vacancies for up to one year.
Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Education: A current valid and unrestricted license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse issued by the Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians, California Department of Consumer Affairs will serve as appropriate education. License must be maintained throughout the duration of employment.
Experience: None required. Two or more hours of experience in a behavioral health setting is highly desirable.
It may be preferred that some vacancies are filled with candidates who are bilingual Spanish, based on operational needs.
