Tourney Plaza Surgical Center located in Santa Clarita Valley, is an Ambulatory Surgical Facility, performing Ophthalmology surgeries in Glaucoma, Pterygium, Blepharoplasty, Cornea Transplants, and GI with a newly built GI suite. We have an exciting employment opportunity for a compassionate Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our healthcare team on a Part-Time basis. The ideal candidate is driven, well organized, energetic, friendly, and a dedicated team player. We operate a busy surgery center and see a high volume of patients. The individual must be able to multitask, adapt to a fast pace environment, manage time efficiently, and communicate appropriately with the interdisciplinary team.
Work Schedule: TBD.Potentially 16-24 hours a week. Morning shifts, no weekends or holidays.
Job Duties:
Under general supervision of the Clinical Director, the Licensed Vocational Nurse is responsible for the following but not limited to:
- Cares for the patient undergoing surgical intervention to assure appropriate peri-operative nursing management.
- Provides a safe, comfortable and private environment for the pre-operative patient
- Obtains medical history via telephone triage and acts upon information given, reviews history taken by clinic staff, and prepares all necessary paperwork
- Identify patient properly and verify completeness of chart and identifies procedure site
- Utilizes EMR systems to review patient charts and data entry with accuracy
- Assures all reports and charts are available at the time of surgery
- Clinically assesses the patient including a brief clinical health history and examination, review assessment with RN
- Monitor patient vital signs and report any changes or abnormalities
- Verifies and prepares preoperative medications and solutions to be administered
- Communicates appropriate information to the RN and anesthetist
- Provides pre-operative skin preparation, if needed
- Performs necessary laboratory work
- Assures patient belongings will be safe and identifiable during their procedure
- Obtains signatures on all appropriate consents
- Educate patients and their families on health management and self-care techniques
- Assist with discharge planning and ensure smooth transitions for patients
- Listens respectfully, gives feedback directly, honestly and talks with others to clarify differences
- Safeguards patient's health and safety by reporting abuse and neglect, maintaining patient confidentiality, and maintaining current skill and knowledge of safe and competent patient care
- Adheres to centers' policies and procedures and follows directives from Clinical Director
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
· Active and unrestricted CA state LVN license
· Minimum of 1-2 years' of experience as an LVN in a healthcare setting
· IV Therapy and Blood Withdrawal Certificate Required
· Bilingual in English/Spanish Required
· Ophthalmology experience desired but Not required
· Surgery Center experienced preferred
· Experience with EMR systems Required
· Compassionate and empathetic approach towards patient care
· Strong and effective communication skills: verbal, listening, written
· Strong attention to detail and follow directives
· Excellent Interpersonal skills and organizational skills
· Coachable individual with enthusiasm to learn and retain knowledge
