We are seeking a Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team in Urbana, Illinois. We are a busy, 4 doctor small animal practice, where every employee is an important contributor to our veterinary team. Our successful candidate will have experience working in a high volume hospital setting and demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication and organizational skills, as well as share our commitment to delivering outstanding service to our clients and the highest quality of care to our patients. Our staff has a variety of professional backgrounds, yet we all share a common passion for satisfying and providing outstanding patient and client care. Our Veterinary Technicians work hand-in-hand with our veterinarians and veterinary assistants to provide exceptional, professional and efficient service to our patients and clients at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Support the doctors to ensure quality veterinary care as well as assisting the entire team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow
- Assist with routine examinations, surgeries, dental procedures, and other treatments/procedures as they arise
- Be able to perform a variety of technical and diagnostic tasks/procedures daily, including venipuncture, intravenous catheterization, SQ, IM and IV injections, urinalysis including sediment examinations, ear and skin cytology, fecal flotations, anesthesia induction/monitoring, drug calculations, radiographs, and other tasks as assigned
- Care for hospitalized patients
- Communicate with clients about preventative health care and offer guidance on vaccinations, medications and other recommendations made by our veterinarians
- Obtain relevant health history and maintain comprehensive and professional medical records
- Use safe handling/restraint techniques
- Perform some reception duties, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing payments, invoicing and admitting and discharging patients.

Requirements:
- Veterinary Technician Certification or Licensure (CVT/LVT)
- At least 2 years of working experience in a fast-paced, high volume hospital/clinic setting
- Must be available to work weekdays with flexible start and end times
- Able to lift 50 pounds and can stand/kneel for long periods of time
- Understands he/she will be exposed to pet allergies, noises, odors, animal waste and possible scratches
- Must have a compassion for pets and people, as well as an awareness and understanding of others’ reactions
- Can professionally and effectively communicate with clients and other staff members
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 42 per week
