The Dunn County Behavioral Health Clinic, certified under DHS 35, is thrilled to announce a fantastic opportunity for a full-time clinical therapist to join our dynamic team. Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives in a role that blends therapy and social work, serving a diverse client population including those underserved, coping with severe and persistent mental illness, as well as individuals from indigent and lower socioeconomic backgrounds.

Excitingly, our clinic will soon be opening (internally) to adolescents aged 12-17 years old, highlighting the importance of flexibility in scheduling to meet the unique needs of adolescents and their families. The Dunn County Behavioral Health Clinic is committed to nurturing talent and introducing motivated clinicians into the therapy field through our established Masters level internship program.

*NOTE: The anticipated starting salary for those meeting the Clinical Mental Health Therapist position is $69,202 to $73,050 annually depending on qualifications. The starting salary for those meeting the Licensed Therapist position is $74,006 to $78,146 annually depending on qualifications.

The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position. Employees are expected to be able to perform these job duties satisfactorily and successfully to be qualified for the position. A licensed therapist may be assigned to one or more areas of detailed below.

Mental Health Therapist:

  • Evaluates and diagnoses Mental Health concerns and needs.
  • Administers, completes, and evaluates Mental Health screeners such as the GAD-7(Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7), PHQ-9 (Patient Health Questionaire-9), ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences), Resiliency Screener, couple's/family screener, and Columbia Suicide Severity Screener.
  • Develops treatment plans with consumers.
  • Prepares for therapy sessions with consumers including researching best therapeutic approach, researching diagnosis and preparing worksheets/homework.
  • Provides therapy services using clinically appropriate techniques and approaches at the Department of Human Services or in the community.
  • Researches and prepares curriculum for group therapy.
  • Provides case management to clients and their team as needed.
  • Provides clinical consultation and support to DHS staff, both with and without the consumer present, related to the direction of care and consumer safety.
  • Collaborates with other services providers within and outside of DHS including probation/parole, drug treatment court, family treatment court, physicians, family care teams, law enforcement, etc.

Crisis Case Worker / Crisis Coordinator:

  • Provides crisis assessments on a walk-in basis as well as crisis assessment to already established consumers.
  • Completes crisis linkage and follow-up for persons who have interacted with the crisis system and/or been in Mental Health crisis.
  • Develops crisis plans and alerts for consumers at risk of need for crisis intervention.
  • Maintains data for crisis services.
  • Assists with coordination of Mental Health crisis services within the Department of Human Services and within Dunn County as a whole.
  • Coordinates crisis stakeholder meetings and serves as a liaison between crisis services, law enforcement, DHS, hospital staff, the courts and other community stakeholders.

Behavioral Health Case Management:

  • Attends Chapter 51 hearings and provide recommendations and testimony regarding treatment and placement.
  • Serves as a liaison between law enforcement, Corporation Counsel, inpatient and outpatient placement providers, crisis services and BHS clinic staff in assessment and treatment planning for consumers involved in emergency detention and Chapter 51 actions.
  • Designs interventions which divert consumers out of formal interventions and into voluntary referral/services whenever safe and possible.
  • Monitors and case manages consumer compliance with settlement agreements and commitment orders.
  • Facilitates access of families or other interested associates of Mental Health consumers to court action via Three Party petitions.
  • Performs functional screening for publicly funded Mental Health services.
  • Provides case management to clients and their team as needed.
  • Ensures the Department of Human Services 51.42 Board statutory requirements.
  • Communicates with Dunn County Corporation Counsel to ensure case management of Mental Health involuntary orders.

Clinical Collaboration:

  • Attends and consults in multidisciplinary team meetings for consumers involved in Mental Health programming.
  • Completes Mental Health status exams, determination of need and reviews and approves other documentation requiring clinical review for Mental Health programming.
  • Provides clinical supervision as required per statutes, revenue streams, and to ensure clinical needs of programming.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Attend staff trainings and meetings as requested/required.
  • Complete accurate, timely record keeping including case notes, assessments, treatment plans, crisis plan, court recommendations, crisis services and emergency detention data, and targeted case management claiming.
  • Travels within the community to provide therapeutic contacts to consumers.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for the Clinical Mental Health Therapist position:
  • Master's Degree of Science or Arts (MS/MA) in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or directly related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous social work, case management, or counseling experience.
  • WI In Training Mental Health License with intention and timeframe for full-licensure (APSW, LPC-IT, etc.).

Requirements for the Licensed Therapist position:
  • Master's Degree of Science or Arts (MS/MA) in Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or directly related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous social work, case management, or counseling experience.
  • Licensed as a:
    1. Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
    2. Marriage and Family Therapist
    3. Professional Counselor (LPC)
    4. Licensed Psychologist

ADDITIONAL LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid driver's license or the ability to travel between work locations.
  • Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES QUALIFICATIONS

In order to perform the duties of the Licensed Therapist position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are essential for Licensed Therapist to possess.

  • Knowledge of approved social casework principles and methods in the field of welfare, family interrelations and individual and group behavior.
  • Knowledge of current social and economic problems and the way in which these problems affect families and individuals.
  • Knowledge of community welfare and Mental Health resources and the ways in which these resources may be made available to people in need.
  • Skill in dealing with employees and clients on matters of a confidential and sensitive nature.
  • Skill in operating a personal computer, word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to make difficult assessments and provide sound direction and advice in circumstances that encompass the range of human emotion and social settings.
  • Ability to stimulate staff growth and development and to give effective casework consultation.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to direct and supervise effectively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships.
  • Ability to follow Dunn County policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, manage multiple projects, and complete work within established deadlines.
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position and willingness to work nights and weekends on short notice.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships.
  • Ability to follow Dunn County policies and procedures including those pertaining to confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize job assignments.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, manage multiple projects, and complete work within established deadlines.
  • Ability to work the allocated hours of the position.

MINIMUM LANGUAGE SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS

In order to perform the duties of the Licensed Therapist position (listed above) the following language skills are essential for the Licensed Therapist to possess.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with other staff members, supervisors, and the general public in written and verbal form.
  • English skills (oral, written and comprehension) sufficient to effectively communicate with all internal and external customers.

MINIMUM REASONING ABILITY QUALIFICATIONS

In order to perform the duties of the Licensed Therapist position (listed above) the following reasoning abilities are essential for the Licensed Therapist to possess.

  • Ability to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Must have ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate and concise records and reports.
MINIMUM MATHEMATICAL ABILITY QUALIFICATIONS

In order to perform the duties of the Licensed Therapist position (listed above) the following mathematical skills are essential for the Licensed Therapist to possess.

  • Ability to make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
