Location: Brenham, TX 77833
Facility: SSLC
Start date: 3/18/24
Contract: 6 months minimum
Shifts: 8hr AM shift (5:45a-2:15) 40hrs weekly, w/every other weekend
Note: must be able to attend New Employee Orientation and Nursing Education Monday-Friday 8a-5p for approximately 4½-6 weeks
LVN Pay rate:
Local: $30/hr
Travel: ($14/hr taxed + $720/wk tax-free travel stipend)
** Must be 50 miles away from permanent residence to qualify for housing allowance**
Brief Job Description:
• Performs highly complex vocational nursing work.
• Provides care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at the SSLC who have complex medical, mental health and/or behavioral health issues.
• Performs basic and complex routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift.
• Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings.
• Instructs direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individual’s medical needs.
• Performs technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations.
• Keeps informed of and follows all agency, SSLC, and unit/home policies and procedures.
• Provides direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs and direct care staff.
• Assists Registered Nurses (RNs) with implementation of protocols, procedures and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals.
• Works under general supervision of an RN with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment
Requirements:
• Current Resume (2+ years' experience in acute care/Subacute care/Long-term care)
• Active TX LVN license
• Current BLS/CPR (from AHA)
• 2 current supervisor references
• Physical (within 12 months)
• TB skin test (within 12 months)
• MMR/Hep B/Varicella or titers
• Current Tdap, current Flu vaccine or declination
• Must be able to pass fingerprint background check and urine drug screening
• Must comply with HHSC immunization requirements
• Must submit to HHSC required drug test
• Must submit to HHSC required fingerprinting
• Must complete facility and HHSC required training
