Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of physician(s), Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner(s) (CRNP), or Physician Assistants (PA), assists physician(s), CRNP(s), and PA(s) the Licensed Practical Nurse will provide optimal healthcare to patients in the physician practice setting.
ESSENTIAL POSITION DUTIES: This is not an exhaustive list and duties may vary based on department placement.
· Maintain patient flow by monitoring schedules and directing flow of patients. Ensure continuous training and supervision of the medical assistants, stocking and inventory in exam rooms and documentation of missed appointments Standard: Ensure that the registered charts are constantly monitored and distributed in order to reduce patients wait times; ensure that the medical assistants send out no show cards for missed appointments.
· Supervise referral logs Standard: Ensure that system is in place for urgent referrals to be done as a priority and monitor referrals; and report to the Medical Director on a weekly basis.
· Ensure the immunization, sterilization and temperature logs are maintained, and ensure that the Infection Control standards are maintained in the department Standard: Infection Control policies and JCAHO standards.
· Conduct patient assessments.
· Triage patient phone calls.
· Administer prescribed patient’s medication, treatments and therapies according to physician’s orders.
· Coordinate care plans.
· Support the Provider team, as needed.
· Maintain a clear communication with other members of the patients' multi-disciplinary team.
· Fostering a supportive and compassionate environment to care for patients and their families.
· Must maintain appropriate attendance.
· Performs duties as assignment to ensure an exceptional experience for the patient.
KNOWEDLEGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience a plus
- Goal oriented and a team player.
- Patient and Customer service focused.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATIONAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Pediatric experience a plus
CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:
- Current state issued LPN license.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
