How you make a difference:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for Infectious Disease is responsible for developing and managing an Infectious Disease control program aimed at preventing, identifying, and controlling Infectious Diseases. This position requires expertise in infection control protocols, including knowledge of Infectious Diseases, their transmission, and appropriate control measures. The LPN works closely with healthcare professionals and staff to monitor and track infections, identify outbreaks, and implement appropriate interventions to prevent the spread of Infectious Diseases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective systems for identifying, preventing, and controlling communicable diseases, while monitoring compliance with relevant regulations and guidelines.
- Conduct regular monitoring of the incidence of Infectious Diseases among inmates, including providing referrals for community follow-up and coordination of care after release.
- Promote a safe and healthy environment for medical staff, including conducting monthly safety and sanitation inspections of the facility.
- Develop and conduct infection control education and training programs for inmates and staff, while promoting the development of positive social skills.
- Maintain accountability for inmates and property and adhere to safety practices.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Graduation from a nursing program approved by the State Board of Nurse Examiners. One year of specialized training/continued education courses in infection control preferred.
Experience
- One year of experience in infection control preferred.
Licenses/Certifications
- Licensing as a Vocational Nurse valid in the state. Must hold current CPR certification.
