Licensed Land Surveyor / Surveying Manager

Position summary: JMT seeking a Maryland Licensed Land Surveyor with 10+ years’ experience. This will specialize in research of survey records in the state of Maryland and provide oversight to the performance of field and office survey staff. The successful candidate will promote safe work practices of all survey staff. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Will work with section head to determine scope of work, job objectives, and man-hour budgets on projects assigned to the surveying group in concurrence with other project managers and supervisors
• Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside the organization with responsibility for acting independently on technical matters
• Strong 3D mapping/topographic survey processing skills.
• Makes decisions independently on surveying problems and methods and represents the organization in conferences and meetings to resolve important questions, and to plan and coordinate work
• Plans and develops surveying projects concerned with unique or controversial problems which have an important effect on firm's major projects
• Analyze survey objectives and specifications to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation
• Prepare or supervise preparation of all data, charts, plots, maps, records, and documents related to surveys
• Train other staff including assistants and helpers and direct their work in such activities as performing surveys or drafting maps
• Develop criteria for survey methods and procedures

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• MD survey License
• Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word
• Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
