CLASS DESCRIPTION
The Baltimore City Health Department is currently seeking a dynamic individual to assess the needs of youth victims of crime and violence for the Office of Youth and Trauma Youth Services. This position is responsible for the provision of a variety of social work functions involving the management of complex cases of dating violence, sexual assault, child abuse, and other violent crime related cases. The Social Worker will be required to engage the youth and their family, supporting them in addressing social, emotional, and psychological needs. This individual will be responsible for developing and coordinating partnerships with providers that offer medical care, mental health services, and substance abuse treatment and other related services for the youth and their families. This position will be responsible for providing support and supervision to youth advocates that address client service and support needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provide individual and group therapeutic counseling to victims of exposure to violence/trauma.
- Monitors and supervises care coordinators who are responsible for ensuring that all individuals are served utilizing a trauma-informed approach while meeting individual needs in accordance with policy and procedures inclusive of evidence-based practices in victim services.
- Participates in facilitating client service plan review meetings to assess progress and plan for transition as needed.
- Provides on-going support for targeted case management functions.
- Under the direction of the Program Director, oversees daily administrative and program management and inform service provision.
- Ensures the timely flow of case management activities to meet program goals and objectives.
- Uses motivational interviewing and supportive counseling techniques to support client engagement and make referrals for long-term therapeutic services as needed.
- Provides regular supervision to program staff.
- Attends and participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings to support collaboration and comprehensive service provision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION: Have a master's degree in Clinical Social work from an accredited college or university.
AND
EXPERIENCE: Have three years of experience in coordinating, monitoring, and processing cases involving the provision of behavioral health services.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATES: A license as a graduate Social Worker by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners is required.
The Preferred candidate must have knowledge of the Victims of Crime Act and its provisions. Experience in working in underserved community settings. At least two years of experience in a leadership capacity.
