Mash-ka-wisen Treatment Center is currently accepting applications for a Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor to join our team and journey with us in support of our mission to help those going through the recovery process. We are an alcohol and drug treatment facility passionate about helping people find sobriety. The LADC is an integral member of the treatment team, primarily responsible for the individual, group, and family counseling along with case management of their caseload. They are an important member of a multi-disciplinary team which helps establish a therapeutic atmosphere at MIPRTC, Inc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Complete initial assessment and interview of new clients.
• Individual, group, and family counseling sessions with primary focus problematic substance use.
• In conjunction with the client, develop, implement, assess and revise as necessary an individualized treatment plan.
• Clearly document in the client case file the client progress, collateral contacts, individual, group, and family counseling sessions, staffing, and consultations.
• Maintain up to date professional standard of client records and regular written evaluations including required forms and documents for various funding sources.
• Create space for clients to recognize and review inappropriate behavior.
• In conjunction with the client, develop recommendations for further care.
• Establish and maintain quality-working relationships with other agencies, community groups, and individuals whose services are needed by the client.
• Collect and document data required by the agency to insure the quality of care of clients.
• Attend weekly consultation with the multi-disciplinary team to review clients’ progress.
• Attends all required meetings and trainings.
• Ensures confidentiality of all records for MIPRTC, Inc. and the clients and employees it serves.
Qualifications:
• A four (4) year degree in Counseling, Chemical Dependency, Social Work, Psychology or related field.
• Must be a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor or able to obtain a license within six months of employment (This requires successful completion of an Alcohol and Drug Counselor Program to meet the minimum requirements).
• Thorough knowledge of 12 step principles (AA, NA, Wellbriety) is required.
• Knowledgeable of the treatment methods for problematic substance use.
• Must possess the intelligence, sensitivity, and self-awareness to develop meaningful rapport with clients to establish a therapeutic environment to assist clients in development of their own responsible goals.
• The counselor must have empathic, warm, genuine, and concrete attributes while displaying sincere respect for the dignity of individuals.
• Must demonstrate oral and written communication skills.
• Must be free of problematic substance use for at least two (2) years, and willing to attest to length of sobriety.
• Subject to pre-employment, post-accident, return to duty, follow-up, and random drug testing.
• Subject to pre-employment and annual background checks.
• Subject to immunization review and proof of required vaccinations.
• Experience working in an Indigenous community is preferred; the ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity is required.
