The Plant Operations Department of The New Jewish Home is seeking 1 full time Maintenance Worker to join our team This position will sit in 120 West, 106th Street, NY, NY 10025. Work hours will be Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
Job Summary:
Assists with the operation, maintenance and repairs to the machinery and equipment thorough the facility. Assists in performing work to facilitate the necessary preventive, corrective and cosmetic maintenance in order to provide a safe, clean and comfortable environment. Reports to the Engineering Supervisor.
Duties and responsibilities
1- Plumbing knowledge to address leak, clogs, or other drainage problems
2- Electrical capabilities to manage minor problems with the building electricity
3- Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building
4- Painting skills and plastering ability to repairs damaging wall
5- Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
6- Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working
7- Performs other related duties

Job Qualifications:
- Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Has the ability to do basic plumbing including unclogging toilets and sinks.
Specialized Skills:
- Ability to use power and hand tools correctly and safely
- Ability to read, write and speak effectively and professionally
- Ability to do basic mathematical equations
Physical Demands:
The employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects , tools or controls and talk or hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
