We are looking for a technically skilled candidate to perform chemical weighing to support library synthesis operations and maintain our LC-MS purification and analytical instruments.

You will be part of the parallel medicinal chemistry team supporting Chemists for their library synthesis needs. Training will be provided, as needed. Duration: This position is a contract based role with 6 months contract which can be extended to additional 12 months maximum.

This position does not transition to full time employment at the end of 18 months. Key Functions: Act as primary support Technician and be a point of contact for weighing chemicals for synthesis of our Chemistry department including weighing of large number of solid and liquid chemicals Generate library building block weighing report in "BBs weighing database" based on chemicals submitted, quantity to weigh and vial types Perform weighing of large number of chemicals including solid and liquid state by following all safety protocols Monitor performance of PFL lab analytical and prep HPLC equipment by routinely running QC standards and troubleshooting any errors and/or failures in a timely manner Make appropriate buffer solutions and fill solvent bottles within lab Use Tecan automation software to perform library purification operations Perform tare and gross weight of tubes on Tecan automation platform using library software Quickly respond to instrument failures or work with the vendor to fix the more complicated ones Work collaboratively with Chemistry customers and instrument users Participate constructively in working teams and at lab meetings Offer assistance to co-workers and be point of contact for weighing chemicals for library synthesis Job Requirements: Ideally would have 0-1 years' experience in an industry setting as a Lab Technician (or BS) in scientific discipline such as chemistry, or engineering. Desired, but not required, to have synthetic or analytical chemistry experience.

Ability to diagnose and remedy advanced hardware and software problems quickly. Good personal and communication skills. The individual must understand "customer focus" and be professional within workplace.

Individual must be self-motivated, well-organized, reliable, and able to prioritize workload. Conduct activities in compliance with Novartis safety, waste disposal and other regulatory guidelines. Identify and report unsafe equipment, conditions and practices so that they may be corrected prior to an incident.
