Kent County, Dover, DE is accepting applications for the position of Library Technician I in the Division of Libraries, located at the Kent County Public Library, South of Camden, DE. Job requirements include: ability to learn library procedures; ability to interact with people; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to tabulate and compile data accurately; ability to perform detailed tasks; physical ability and stamina to carry large bags of books and library materials; Must be able to drive bookmobile van to numerous stops throughout Kent County;Must be able to work evening hours and/or weekends when needed; working knowledge of personal computers and pertinent applications; regular and timely attendance; performance of duties in a safe manner. Completion of standard high school course work or G.E.D. and three years of library-related experience, or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge in library programming, grant writing, and community outreach. Possession and retention of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Delaware required. Good driving record required to retain position. All motor vehicle violations shall be reported to supervisor immediately. May be required to pass testing of physical strength and agility to qualify for and retain position. Must pass testing for substance abuse and criminal background investigation. Direct deposit of pay required.
