This position is located at MCAS YUMA, AZ. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a LIBRARY TECHNICIAN II.
Major Duties
Summary of Duties:
Incumbent provides technician support by performing a wide variety of direct services to the public such as: registers patrons, charges/discharges materials, processes over-dues and reserves, assists with interlibrary loans and reserves, shelves library materials, prepares displays, assists in program activities, answers basic reference questions involving the use of selected resources, and assists customers in locating materials; and /or provides technical services support in a variety of functions: ordering/receiving/processing and de-acquisitioning of library materials. Accepts payments for library transactions and records receipts of monies collected for review by immediate supervisor.
Performs a variety of general office and clerical tasks in support of library operation. Assists in maintaining accountability records and in performing shelf inventories. May assist customers with basic computer software applications and hardware. Answers the telephone, takes messages, and refers callers to appropriate staff members. May train and provide work guidance for other library personnel.
Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification:
One year experience in responsible library support services using an Integrated Library System (ILS) is preferred. Ability to use copier, scanner, fax machine, computer programs, and other office equipment. Ability to plan, organize, and carry out directives. Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule to include weekends and evenings. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 451bs independently and objects over 451bs with assistance.
May be required to successfully complete a Childcare National Agency Check with Inquiries (CNACI).
