Description
The Library Services division of is seeking an engaged and strategic leader to fill a Library Services Manager position. This position is part of a team that is responsible for providing leadership for staffing and services in the Library Services division with a focus on assuring relevant, mission-driven, timely service to patrons in libraries, online, and in the community. This position will manage the staff and services in a regional group of libraries, including having direct supervisory responsibility for six or more supervisors and overseeing a team of 50 or more employees in a variety of roles throughout the region. In addition, this position will promote and support the library's strategic initiatives by participating on or leading project teams and collaborating with Hennepin County departments and community organizations in the development of services for the public.
Effective December 31, 2023, there will be a general salary adjustment of 2.5% to the minimum and maximum of the range.

Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both onsite with frequent and regular visits to libraries and other county workspaces and remote as job duties require. Work hours will typically be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with some evening and weekend hours required to support libraries across the county. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.
New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable after the new employee successfully completes probation.

In this position, you will:
  • Manage staff and services for region of libraries.
  • Provide leadership to further department-based strategies that align with county goals, mission and core values for diversity, equity & inclusion.
  • Ensure programs and services across region align with library and county priorities.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise complex library and county projects.
  • Sponsor teams and work groups.
  • Manage and track resources in region of libraries, including staff, supplies and equipment, and programming costs.
  • Support supervisors in developing responsible staffing and scheduling plans.
  • Manage performance of direct reports and support performance management across region of libraries.
  • Ensure compliance with labor agreements and personnel rules.
  • Support library and county priorities, including delegating and assigning work to others.
  • Implement the Racial Equity Impact Tool (REIT) in planning projects and services to support Hennepin County's equity, diversity, and inclusion goals.
Need to have:
One of the following:
  • Nine years or more of experience related to organizational operations or programs or a specialty area appropriate to the position.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in business administration or other field appropriate to the position and five years or more of experience related to organizational operations or programs or a specialty area appropriate to the position.
