Library and Corporate Records Associate (1-year Fixed-term)

The Role
Christie’s New York Library, within the Operations cluster, is looking for a highly detail-oriented individual to assist with various on-site Library and Corporate Records tasks. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated person comfortable in solo and team environments. The position will also occasionally participate in general Operations meetings and projects. Christie’s is delighted to broaden our search for fresh, diverse, and skilled talent to participate in our offerings. This is an on-site, full-time (40 hours per week) opportunity for successful candidates who have 2+ year experience in an academic, corporate, or public library setting.
Please note, we will not be accepting students who are still attending an undergraduate/graduate university- you must have completed your degree.
Specific duties & responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Conduct primary source research on tight deadlines in support of internal departments.
Manage research inquiries from external clients and guests.
Refine information literacy skills through a proficiency in searching a variety of media including databases, text, microfilm, and archival materials.
Coordinate and track Corporate Records requests and physical inventory.
Manage daily physical and digital archive projects.
Process administrative and financial records and reports, including any necessary global subscriptions for online databases.
Gain expertise through on-site projects involving physical and digital resource management.
Perform basic original and copy cataloguing to accession books and serials.
Research artists, works, and clients using a variety of onsite, offsite, and online resources.
Lead site-wide bookbinding projects; perform basic book repair and preservation methods.
Refine and update data frequently in Christie’s internal systems.
Assist staff with a variety of time-sensitive and long-term projects.
Must be able to lift/move up to 40-pound book loads.
The Candidate
We are looking for hard-working, energetic, and intellectually curious self-starters who can thrive in a high-pressure environment. They ask questions, find solutions, and are keen to learn about the entire auction process.
Advanced degree in Library Science, Information Sciences, or Records Management
2+ year experience in an academic, corporate, or public library setting
Passion for the Arts, Literature, and the Auction world
Highly organized and able to multitask between several projects
Precise attention to detail and thoroughness in planning and execution phases of projects
Self-motivated and can take a task from start to finish with minimal supervision
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Superior verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on interpersonal engagement
Manage project priorities in a fast-paced auction house environment
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, as well as Adobe Acrobat
Experience with LMS, CMS, or other database platforms
Additional language skills are desirable, however not mandator
